However, as if the amazing stability and even UHD resolution videos (4K) weren’t enough, they started presenting camera drones with some pretty unbelievable features.

Things like “Point of interest” mode, where the drone constantly points the camera at the point of interest no matter how and where you fly the drone, and “Follow me” mode, where the drone follows you no matter where you go, and keeps you in the center of the video all the time while flying at some amazing speeds! They have opened a totally new chapter of selfies!

Are you interested in buying a drone with Follow Me mode for yourself? You are in the right place, because we have gathered a list of the best drones that follow you in 2017. The quads you are about to see, are not the best just because they have good build quality, they are highly rated in the drone flying community as well.

We also have to mention that this drone was awarded for being the Best Drone at CES 2015.

The key features:

  • Fully automated following and filming
  • Foldable and allows compact travel

In conclusion

Well, now you know which are the market’s current best drones that can follow you. Choosing the right one from the ones we offered you depends on what you want from your drone. Do you want to use it for something other than just filming? Perhaps enjoying the good old flying? If yes, then look for the ones that are not the fully automated action sports “followers” and you will have the freedom to film whatever or whoever you want, any way you want it.

If, however, the only thing you want from your drone is to take off and take care of both flying and filming while you do your daredevil stunts, the best option would be the models that are all about “Follow Me” mode. But, have in mind that if one day you get a wish to film something else than yourself doing something, it will be impossible, and that, in our opinion is the only downside of these types of drones. Whichever model you choose, make sure that you fly it safe and responsible. Happy flying!

  • Justin Banks

XIRO Xplorer Drone has the best design I ever saw. It also has some very cool features, like compass calibration, return home function and auto shut-down mode after landing to prevent the accident. By the way, it is not very expensive 🙂

  • Correct. Currently it is available for $359 on amazon.

  • George Patterson

The Visionary Intelligence Elevated Imagination feature is just too good to be true. It allows the drone to automatically follow and film you whenever you go from a higher perspective. When you mix that feature with everything that the Phantom 4 has, you get the BEST photography drone ever. Imagine a 4K camera following you with an Intelligent Flight Support System that scans the surroundings and chooses a safe track for the drone. Just amazing!

  • Mike Darrell

The Yuneec Q500+ 4K Typhoon drone flies slower, but is a much more stable platform. This is not a small unit, so remember that before purchasing. It flies smoother and quieter than the Phantom. But the Phantom has much better fpv range.

    • Jack Brown

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with the Typhoon model! You are absolutely right, it is not a small drone! It takes some time to get used to its size and to feel confident when piloting it. But, once you master it, your videos will be unbelievably stable and AWESOME! 🙂

  • Harper Williams

The Xiro Xplorer is arguably the best-looking drone out there. The remote controller is very user-friendly and the whole setup is simple. I used GoPro to capture images. One thing, though, the gimbal can only tilt up and down. Other controls like taking videos would have to be set-up before take off.

  • Jack Brown

Thanks for the heads up, Harper, I am sure our readers will appreciate knowing that!

  • Trevor Nel

You will really be amazed by the incredible performance of the DJI Phantom 4. But I must agree that the 3DR Solo and the Yuneec give it tough time of competition. Nonetheless, to me it emerges as the winner. I think the “follow me” mode can also help me follow and spy on my enemies. lol. I’m kidding, I don’t wanna be in danger.

    • Jack Brown

Well, it would be quite useful for spy games :))) Thanks for sharing your thoughts with our readers, Trevor!
