The Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano is a very small quadcopter but this is not an obstacle when it comes to amazing features. It is also the number one when it comes to having fun! Perfect for the experienced ones that really want to have fun, it will still be a good fit for a pilot who doesn’t have experience with drones.

The quadcopter is very responsive, it has a stable flight, it can be very fast if you want it to be, and is durable enough to go through rough landings and ugly crashes without suffering too much damage.

You can either have fun performing cool aerial tricks outside or, due to its small size, you can easily fly it inside without breaking something. Even more, this little toy is the perfect gift for your kids because it’s not expensive and you can be sure they will love it.

To top things out, this mini quadcopter is quite tough and even children who are not careful with their toys will get to enjoy it to the max.

It can be a perfect gift for adults as well because we also need to have fun from time to time but from what I’ve seen women are more attracted to the Hubsan Q4 than men. I believe that the main attraction is the tiny cute body which appeals more to the feminine side.

ATTENTION: This quadcopter is not for little kids because the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano has small components a child could end up choking with, so be careful!

Build specifications

Let’s see what is this drone made of and what it has inside that attract us so much. Is it the size? Is it the speed? Let’s find out!

Packaging

The Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano comes in a box and once you get the drone out you will just need to charge it and then is ready-to-fly (RTF).

In the package you will find:

  • 1 x Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano quadcopter
  • 1 x transmitter
  • 4 x propellers
  • 1 x USB charging cable
  • Instruction manual

Here is a video in which you can see exactly how the unboxing goes and all the colors that this quadcopter has.

Design and durability

The Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano quadcopter is built from strong plastic and has a very light chassis and a special canopy that is designed for better protection. You can find this little quadcopter in 5 different colors: black, white, red, yellow and green, so you can choose from one of those the one you like most.

And finally, the dimensions of this drone are 45 mm x 45 mm, a 12 grams weight with the battery and props installed and the height is 25 mm.

It also has built-in LED lights in the front and back for easier flight in low light and a 6-axis gyro that will help you fly this quad very easy.

Lots of people who bought this drone for their children said that even after the worst crashes when they just expected to find bits and pieces of it, they were surprised to find out that the drone was still functional.

As for the propellers, they don’t have a safeguard (like many other models of this size) but a cool thing about them is that they come off when there is a greater impact so they won’t suffer any damage. I mean, you would probably get to buy another set of propellers because you’ve lost the one you had rather than because they broke.

So you will have to be careful where you drop your quad because you might lose the propellers in the tall grass or under a carpet for example.

So the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano is a little drone that beats other bigger drones when it comes to durability and having fun.

Camera

Unfortunately this little guy doesn’t have a camera and can’t carry one. Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano is made for fun and if you want a drone for filming or taking aerial pictures, the Q4 is not the drone for you.

If you’ve had fun, durability and a camera at this low price, then things would have been too good to be perfect right?

Battery and flight time

Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano uses a 3.7-volt lithium-ion rechargeable battery that it takes only half an hour to charge. The battery can be easily charged at a computer or laptop with the USB cable you find in the package. So you can play a video game or watch a short movie and the battery will charge immediately.

Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano battery change

The flight time that Hubsan reported for this drone was 5 minutes. However, users report way better times, between 10 and 20 minutes. Honestly, we don’t really know if that was possible just because they’ve changed the battery or they just bought another one or is just the fact that this little quad has no limits in surprising everyone.

Don’t forget that you will need 2 x AAA batteries for the controller so you can start the flight.

Controller

The Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano is controlled by a 2.4 GHz wireless remote control that is quite small. Actually, many users didn’t expect the controller to be so small and they’ve had some difficulties with it because they had big hands. Maybe this is another point on why this quadcopter is loved by kids and women and not so much by men.

Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano with flight controller

It can be a little bit tricky at first but once you get used to it, it won’t be that hard.

The range of the controller is 50 meters and it has 2 setups:

  • Left stick: throttle and yaw
  • Right stick: pitch and roll

It has 3 modes: beginner, intermediate and expert and you will hear one, two and three beeps for each mode. At first you should start with the beginner mode because this quad is fast and has an amazingly fast yaw rate.

Overall, if you are a beginner then this will help you learn how to fly a bigger drone at a very affordable price. So is better to get used to this controller and learn all the tricks that you can make with it.

Flight performance

Because of its small size is better to fly this quad indoors. If you wish to fly it outside you will have to choose a day without any signs of wind because the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano is very small and lightweight so it can easily be blown away by the wind.

Another piece of advice: don’t fly it too high because at one point you won’t see it anymore. This will be much easier on a calm night because it has LED lights and then you won’t have any problems with it flying too high. However, be mindful of trees that you won’t see because it’s dark.

Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano flight

You will be able to make some nice tricks and rolls and while you are inside you will see exactly how stable the flight is.

According to people who fly the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano, the maximum speed it can achieve is 1.2 m/s.

Value for money and guarantee

You can buy this little quadcopter from Amazon for only $29. As you can see, it is not expensive and, for the money, you will get huge amounts of fun with your family, friends or by yourself.

You will have to be careful because on the market there are a lot of copies that will break very quickly. So, you just have to be careful to buy Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano from the producer or authorized dealers.

About the guarantee, you will have to talk with the seller. Some may be willing to give you your money back if something happens but others will not bother with this because the quad is cheap. So be sure to check the reviews that other people left for those sellers before buying one for you.

Unique features

Looking at the Hubsan Q4 you will see a lot of things that are special and unique starting with the small and cute body. It can do nice tricks like 360 degrees rolls and, for a small quad like this, it has an amazing speed and yaw rate (especially if you fly it in expert mode).

Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano features

An amazing feature is the size itself because you can put it in the pocket and go anywhere you want with it. It’s very durable and resistant to ugly crashes. The propellers will come off at a very powerful impact so they won’t break. However, if something does break, you can replace it without too much effort, especially considering the fact that all the components are cheap.

You will find this quad in 5 different colors so it’s very easy to choose one for you or for your kids. It has LEDs so if you fly it in low light it looks just like a little colorful bug that is very easy to fly and see.

The 6-axis gyro will help you have a nice and stable flight and the 3 modes (beginner, intermediate and expert) will help you learn all you need to know if you are a beginner.

Similar models or main competitors

Let’s see what other small models we can find that have these features in common and which are the Q4’s biggest enemies.

The Voomall JJRC DHD D1 quadcopter

This is another small quadcopter with a size of 2.2 cm x 1.9 cm. It has the same 30 minutes charging time like the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano and the flight time is 6 to 8 minutes. The control distance however is smaller. The range of the controller is 20 meters while the Q4 has a 50 meters range.  For charging you also get a USB cable so you charge it at a computer or laptop.

Just like the Hubsan Q4, this Voomall quadcopter has a 6-axis gyro so the stability in flight is the same.

Voomall jjrc-dhd d1 quadcopter

A feature that you won’t find at the Q4 is a headless mode where the direction of the drone is the same as the direction of your controller. You will not have to worry about being careful where the front and the back are.

Otherwise, this little quadcopter is durable and lightweight so there aren’t any other differences except in looks. If you are interested in this quad you can buy it at about $22.99.

Eachine E010 Mini UFO Quadcopter

If you don’t like the idea of propellers popping off at great impact and you don’t want to buy a safeguard, then this model might be for you. The Eachine E010 mini drone is durable, has a propeller guard as part of its body and can do some nice tricks.

It can also do 360 degrees flips just like our Q4 but what it has an advantage over it because it has a headless mode and one key return home.

The charging time is between 35 minutes and 50 minutes and you get only 5 minutes of flight. If we compare it with the Hubsan Q4, we know the charging time is 30 minutes and the flight time can be more than 5 minutes (as advertised). So I guess we can tell the Q4 is in advantage.

Eachine e010 mini ufo quadcopter

The flight distance is only 30 meters while with the Hubsan Q4 H111 Nano you can go for about 50 meters but the downfall on this is that you may not be able to see it anymore since it’s very small.

So it has an upper hand on the features and on the looks as well but for those who are interested in little robotic flying bugs the Q4 is for you.

The size of the Eachine E010 mini drone is 9.5 x 9.5 x 5 cm and you can find it for about $26.99.

If you think that this product could be useful for you, then you can buy it from Amazon.

Sky Viper Nano Drone (M200)

Here is another inexpensive and fun drone coming through. The dimensions for this drone are 2in. x 7.8in. x 9.8in.

The flight time is the same that you will get with the Q4 (if you are lucky) and that is 10 minutes. But the difference is in the charging time. With the Q4 you need 30 minutes while with the Sky Viper M200 you will need only 15 minutes of charging and you are all set.

Sky viper nano drone m200

The Sky Viper Nano drone also defeats the Q4 when it comes to controller’s range. At the Q4 you have a range of 50 meters while at this drone you have a range of 60 meters. But as I said before, I don’t know how many of you will go that far because at one point you might not see them anymore because of their small body.

These are all the main differences between the two models and there are no other features in addition, just the tricks that the Q4 can also make. So, if you want a smaller charging time, the Sky Viper is more recommended. If you do choose it, you can find it for about $30 on the market.

That is the smartest thing you can do actually. Start with a small, cheap model, and after the piloting skills are honed, go for a bigger, more advanced model. You won’t make a mistake with the Nano, that’s for sure!

  • Jack Brown

Thank you so much for sharing your experience with this model and for giving useful advice. I am sure our readers will appreciate it!

  • Jack Brown

Well, this model has not been meant for outdoor use anyway. I mean, you can take it for a spin outside, but you need to be aware that the control range is not that big, and the day has to be wind free. Its main purpose is for having fun around the house and learning how to pilot drones.

  • Jack Brown

Yup a great model for beginners or even more experienced pilots to fly around the house when the weather is bad outside. Thanks for the comment!
